About the Role:
We are seeking a results-driven leader to own the implementation and project governance of all client projects at scale. As the Director, Client Implementation PMO, you will define and enforce our stage-gate framework, coordinate internal delivery teams, and deliver portfolio visibility that enables predictable, high-quality, and compliant execution.
Equally important, you will ensure that strong governance translates into tangible client outcomes- successful go-lives, measurable value realization, and high client satisfaction. This role partners closely with Client Engagement Management and Account Management to ensure every client project follows best-in-class governance, milestones are met, and the client experience reflects Abacus’s commitment to trust, quality, and impact.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
- Define the Client Implementation PMO vision and roadmap aligned to business goals, audit, and compliance needs.
- Institutionalize a stage-gate model that drives standardization in delivery and scales across products, services, and clients.
Operational Excellence
- Standardize templates, checklists, and rituals (risk/decision/issue logs, RAID, change control) to drive consistency and quality.
- Introduce continuous improvement mechanisms, methodology coaching, and governance audits.
- Drive automation of PMO processes (dashboards, reporting, RAID, status updates) using workflow tools and GenAI solutions.
Project Implementation & Governance
- Ensure every engagement meets entry/exit criteria for each stage; manage exceptions with clear rationale and approvals.
- Implement robust change management, dependency management, and risk escalation protocols.
- Coordinate with internal delivery functions (Client Data Engineering, Solution Architects, BAs, QA, Product/Engineering) to execute delivery plans; ensure resources, timelines, and dependencies are aligned.
- Drive predictable execution of implementation milestones, proactively resolving internal delivery bottlenecks.
- Institute a culture of project management excellence by embedding best-in-class delivery practices, automation, and continuous improvement across all programs.
Team Leadership
- Build and mentor Client Implementation Project Managers; elevate methodology maturity across teams.
- Create enablement programs and communities of practice for project management excellence.
Stakeholder Management
- Partner with Client Engagement leaders to align governance and implementation with client outcomes.
- Collaborate closely with AEs to ensure delivery impacts are visible for commercial decisions.
- Provide executives with transparent portfolio health and readiness views; align governance with audit/InfoSec requirements.
- Act as the internal hub for cross-functional delivery coordination across geographies and teams.
Performance Metrics & Analysis
- Own governance KPIs: stage-gate compliance %, quality of artifacts, variance to plan.
- Delivery predictability metrics: milestone hit rate, dependency resolution speed, and resource utilization effectiveness.
- Operate portfolio dashboards and reporting that enable proactive risk mitigation and decision-making.
What We're Looking For:
- 15+ years in software/SaaS delivery management with 5+ years leading PMs or delivery teams.
- Healthcare data/interop background (e.g., CMS 9115/0057, payer data) preferred.
- Technical literacy with cloud data platforms (Snowflake/Databricks), data pipelines.
- Deep experience running Agile/Scaled Agile delivery across multiple pods/teams and time zones.
- Strong command of portfolio planning, capacity management, and dependency management.
- Operational rigor with Jira/Confluence, Smartsheet, and dashboarding/BI (Power BI/Tableau).
- Proven success coordinating Product, Engineering, QA, and DevOps to land complex releases.
- Experience with globally distributed teams (US/India/Nepal or similar).
- Certifications: PMP/Prince2.
- MBA or Advanced Degree in Business/Technology preferred.
