Business Intelligence Consultant

Position Summary:

Researches, analyzes, identifies, and investigates data used to inform business strategy and opportunities for the success of internal & external customers. Uses multiple sources of data and input and platforms to create meaningful data-based recommendations. Learns new scientific methodologies and maintains specific industry knowledge.

Job Description:

Primary Responsibilities

  • Researches, analyzes, and identifies trends, opportunities, and needs for the client by using the platform to improve overall actions and results. Identifies early trends that illustrate opportunities to implement corrective actions.
  • Works collaboratively with the Product Team to identify and gather detailed business requirements. Creates technical documentation, clarifies, interprets and translates specifications as required in order to develop an appropriate data information solution.
  • Performs data quality checks.
  • Provides and communicates recommendations on results/findings on reviews and research. Tracks the results of implemented recommendations for progress and impact.
  • Makes data-based recommendation based on appropriate measures (standard health plan measures, physician group contract measures, financial outcomes, improvement of health, value based contracts, etc.)
  • Quantifies ROI to illustrate programs' effectiveness.
  • Works with industry standard data query and tools and performs various ad-hoc analysis to guide business direction across all functional business groups.
  • Writes and interprets moderately complex SQL queries for standard as well as ad-hoc data mining.
  • Works to implement customer dashboards for critical success metrics reporting and tracking on programs and implementation.
  • Reviews, manipulates, and extracts data from a variety of relational databases.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors in related field (Mathematics, Computer Science, Epidemiology, Public Health, etc.) or equivalent
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in healthcare data analytics or the knowledge, skills, and abilities to succeed in the role
  • Ability to utilize analytics tools including SQL, SAS, SPSS, and/or open-source including Python and R, or similar
  • Experience with SQL query writing within a Microsoft Technology environment with good knowledge in SQL programming
  • Ability to query and extract data from a complex data warehouse using SQL and/or ETL tools
  • Aptitude for analytical thinking and demonstrated data skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work with large data and to reach recommendations and conclusions from reviews
  • Familiarity with HEDIS & CMS care quality measures; experience implementing quality measures
  • Working knowledge of the Healthcare Domain and healthcare data
  • Ability to learn new technologies, and contribute to areas such as infrastructure, administration, and project management with ease
  • Good understanding of data model approaches to be able to discuss the pros/cons of each with our clients and data architects and create business requirements
  • Good project management skills including the ability to own projects end-to-end while being responsible for developing all aspects of a report

Preferred

  • Experience in healthcare or population health sector

The hiring range for this position is:

$72,800.00-$97,400.00
