We are seeking an analytics engineer to join our Somatus-KRS analytics engineering team and provide hands-on engineering direction to support all data-related analytics activities at Somatus. This exciting role will rely on your technical skills to create analytics-ready data sets and institute proper data governance, provenance, cataloguing, and lineage tracking in test-driven, version-controlled environment to accelerate analytics and data initiatives at Somatus. This person will work cross-functionally with stakeholders across analytics, data science & engineering, product, and business functions, and will be thought leader in partnering with stakeholders across the Somatus Technology organization to help execute this vision.
This role would involve a strong understanding of:
· How to create self-service tools for non-technical users to work with data
· How to extract and present business insights for non-technical users
· How to pay attention to the details and understand the causes instead of just the effects
Responsibilities
- Ship software to deliver clean, versioned, and easy to use data sets and tools for analysts and business users
- Develop high-impact data layers, user interfaces, and other tools to enable self-service analytics
- Gather feedback and input on self-service implementations from end-users and peers and create a cycle of continuous improvement
- Keep a close eye on usage of self-service products and engage in activities (documentation, socialization, etc) designed to increase usage
- Work with other leaders in technology to set and execute on long-running initiatives in data governance, cataloguing, & centralization of metrics definitions
- Understand where various opportunities fit within the broader set of Somatus strategies and prioritize competing demands to deliver the most impactful work items
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
Software development experience in Java, Python, C#, C++, or other high-level programming language
Familiarity with distributed data stores (S3, Presto, Hive, Spark)
Strong ability to write complex SQL, and create ad-hoc data pipelines and ETLs
Experience with software development delivery (agile, JIRA, Github)
Strong communication and collaboration skills
A strong engineer with a track record of implementing self-service products for non-technical end-users
Self-driven independent leader comfortable with ambiguity
Authorization to work in the US
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong experience with building and maintaining semantic layers and self-service technologies (dbt, Looker, Power BI, Tableau) for business end-users
- Experience streaming data frameworks (Kafka, Flink)
- Deep familiarity with dimensional modeling/data warehousing concepts
- Experience with Cloud (e.g., Google Cloud, Azure)
- Healthcare experience is a plus
