Overview:

The Senior Director, FP&A is an enterprise-level finance leader with full strategic ownership of financial planning, revenue and margin analysis, and cross-functional business partnership across HealthEdge's SaaS and BPaaS lines of business. Reporting to the SVP of Finance, this role is accountable not only for delivering financial insight but for shaping the strategic direction of the finance function and influencing how the organization allocates capital, manages performance, and drives growth.

This leader brings a combination of deep FP&A expertise, executive presence, and transformational leadership. They are a thought leader in financial strategy capable of anticipating business headwinds, challenging conventional thinking, and introducing new frameworks that elevate decision-making across the enterprise. They operate with high autonomy and are expected to bring a point of view, proactively shape the agenda, and hold themselves and their team accountable to outcomes, not just outputs. . They are a trusted advisor, capable people leader, and a catalyst for organizational change.

Centers of Excellence (COE) are teams whose primary goal is to provide expertise in a specific field. COEs provide support through training, research, and skilled leadership. At HealthEdge, our Centers of Excellence span Human Resources, IT, Legal, and Finance — each providing strategic support to our Product divisions and enabling the enterprise to move forward and achieve its goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Ownership & Thought Leadership

The Senior Director is expected to be a visible thought leader bringing proactive ideas, financial strategy, and business intelligence to the executive leadership table.

  • Drives continuous improvement across covered business lines, including gaps in processes, tools, and team capabilities and leading initiatives to close them in alignment with the broader finance strategy.
  • Serve as the primary financial voice and strategic advisor for the SaaS and BPaaS business lines, with accountability for how financial insights influence commercial and operational decisions.
  • Introduce industry best practices and emerging frameworks (e.g., SaaS and BPaaS profitability models) to continuously elevate the finance function.
  • Anticipate financial and market risks before they materialize; present proactive mitigation strategies and scenario analysis to the SVP of Finance and CFO.
  • Act as a thought partner to the SVP of Finance on enterprise strategy, capital allocation, and organizational design contributing meaningfully beyond the boundaries of the traditional FP&A function.

People Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, develop, and retain a team of financial analysts and business partners supporting multiple functional areas across the organization.
  • Set clear performance expectations, provide regular coaching and feedback, and build a culture of accountability, intellectual curiosity, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop team capabilities in financial modeling, business partnership, and executive communication investing in both technical and professional growth.
  • Build and manage team structure and capacity to scale with organizational complexity, ensuring spans of control and role clarity keep pace with business growth.
  • Create succession pipelines within the team identifying high-potential analysts and investing in their development toward senior roles.
  • Model an ownership mindset: holding the team accountable for the quality, accuracy, and timeliness of all financial deliverables.

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Own the annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and long-range planning processes for all covered functions, including Product Development, SaaS, and BPaaS.
  • Lead monthly close activities including variance analysis, management reporting, and executive commentary translating financial results into clear business narratives.
  • Design and maintain financial models that enable scenario planning, headcount optimization, and investment prioritization across all covered functions.
  • Develop and continuously improve planning assumptions, cost allocation methodologies, and KPI frameworks aligned to each function's business model.
  • Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of all financial deliverables produced by the team.
  • Champion automation and self-service reporting — reducing manual effort and enabling real-time access to financial data across the organization.

Business Partnership Revenue & Product

  • Partner with Sales, Customer Success, and Professional Services leadership to develop revenue forecasts, track pipeline conversion, and analyze ARR waterfall movements (new logo, expansion, contraction, churn).
  • Build and maintain detailed bottoms-up revenue models incorporating ARR, bookings, churn, upsell, and implementation timelines across SaaS and BPaaS customers.
  • Monitor and report on key SaaS metrics and margin translating trends into actionable insights for executive leadership.
  • Define and operationalize BPaaS financial metrics; build a scalable reporting repository to enable ongoing performance analysis and benchmarking.

Business Partnership — SaaS

  • Own SaaS revenue and margin, serving as the authoritative financial voice for the SaaS segment.
  • Own pricing decisions on new product offerings, ensuring financial rigor and competitive alignment inform every commercial decision.
  • Support deal structuring, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations by providing financial modeling and scenario analysis through the Deal Desk process.
  • Prepare and present monthly and quarterly business reviews to senior leadership and the Board, including variance commentary, trend analysis, and forward-looking guidance.
  • Develop standardized financial reporting frameworks and dashboards that provide real-time visibility into segment performance against plan.
  • Serve as a trusted strategic advisor to the EVP of Product and their direct reports, embedding finance into day-to-day business decisions.

Business Partnership — BPaaS

BPaaS (Business Process as a Service) represents a critical and distinct growth vector for HealthEdge. Unlike traditional SaaS, BPaaS involves the delivery of managed, outcome-based services on top of the technology platform — creating a fundamentally different cost structure, revenue recognition profile, and operational risk model. The Senior Director, FP&A will be expected to build the financial infrastructure for this business line nearly from the ground up.

  • Own financial planning and analysis for the BPaaS business line, including revenue, cost of delivery, gross margin, and contribution margin establishing financial ownership from day one.
  • Define and implement a dedicated BPaaS financial model that captures the economics of service delivery, client onboarding, operational labor costs, and technology infrastructure absorption.
  • Develop a BPaaS-specific KPI framework that addresses metrics unique to managed services environments, including cost per member/claim, SLA attainment vs. cost, client-level profitability, volume-based revenue variability, and operational efficiency ratios.
  • Build scenario models to evaluate the financial impact of contract structures (e.g., per-member-per-month, outcome-based pricing, hybrid models) and advise leadership on optimal deal economics.
  • Partner closely with BPaaS Operations leadership to understand capacity planning, staffing models, and workflow automation investments translating operational inputs into forward-looking financial projections.
  • Monitor and forecast revenue recognition complexity inherent in multi-element BPaaS arrangements; partner with accounting to ensure appropriate treatment and controls.
  • Support BPaaS go-to-market strategy by providing financial evaluation of market expansion opportunities, new client pricing proposals, and service expansion decisions..
  • Drive scalable FP&A processes specific to BPaaS, including automation of operational reporting and model standardization, to support HealthEdge's growth at scale.

Change Management & Finance Transformation

HealthEdge operates in a dynamic environment scaling its product portfolio, evolving its go-to-market model, and maturing its organizational infrastructure. The Senior Director, FP&A will play a central role in leading finance through transformation, ensuring the function remains agile, trusted, and ahead of the business’ needs.

  • Develop change management plans for major FP&A process or systems changes, including communication strategies, training programs, and adoption milestones — ensuring the team and business partners are prepared and supported.
  • Serve as a steady, credible presence during periods of organizational change — helping the finance team navigate ambiguity, maintain productivity, and stay anchored to priorities.
  • Assess and redesign FP&A workflows as the business scales: identify where manual processes, siloed data, or outdated structures limit the team's effectiveness and lead initiatives to address them.
  • Drive adoption of self-service analytics and automated reporting across the organization, reducing dependency on finance for routine data requests and freeing bandwidth for higher-value analysis.
  • Influence the broader change agenda at HealthEdge by helping business leaders understand the financial implications of strategic transitions (e.g., product launches, organizational restructuring, operating model shifts).
  • Build organizational change competency within the FP&A team — coaching analysts to communicate change effectively, manage resistance, and operate as trusted guides for their business partners.

Strategic Planning & Executive Reporting

  • Contribute to the company's long-range financial plan and annual operating plan, bringing a cross-functional perspective across all covered business areas.
  • Prepare and present financial analyses, business cases, and investment recommendations to the CFO, SVP Finance, and executive leadership team.
  • Support Board of Directors and investor reporting as it relates to covered functions, including segment reporting and strategic initiative updates.
  • Support M&A activities including financial due diligence, integration modeling, and go-forward planning for acquired entities.
  • Identify and drive process improvement and automation initiatives within FP&A to increase reporting velocity and analytical depth.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field required.
  • MBA, CPA, or CFA strongly preferred.

Experience

  • 12+ years of progressive FP&A or finance business partnering experience, with at least 5 years in a people leadership role managing a team of two or more direct reports.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting Product, SaaS, or BPaaS organizations with a clear understanding of the financial and operational differences between these business models.
  • Background in a SaaS, technology, or software company strongly preferred; experience in healthcare technology is a plus.
  • Proven track record of operating as a strategic business partner to senior and C-suite executives, with the ability to influence without authority.
  • Demonstrated experience leading finance transformation, including systems implementations, process redesign, or operating model change.
  • Experience leading or supporting organizational change management initiatives — including communication planning, stakeholder engagement, and adoption tracking.
  • Experience supporting M&A due diligence and post-merger financial integration preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and motivate a high-performing finance team in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with the ability to build trusted relationships across Engineering, Product, Operations, and G&A.
  • Proven thought leadership — brings a point of view, shapes the agenda, and introduces new ideas that improve outcomes beyond the FP&A function.

**The annual US base salary range for this position is $227,000 to $248,000. This salary range may cover multiple career levels at HealthEdge. Final compensation will be determined during the interview process and is based on a combination of factors including, but not limited to, your skills, experience, qualifications and education.
