Director of Clinical Operations

We’re looking for a Director of Clinical Operations who can both design and do — someone who thrives in the details of operations, is comfortable executing workflows themselves, and can zoom out to build the model that will scale.

You’ll be responsible for standing up and running the operational engine that powers our virtual and community-based care model. This includes defining how care is delivered, staffed, documented, and reimbursed — and then ensuring those systems work day-to-day.

You’ll partner closely with the VP of Care Delivery to test and refine the model as we expand into new patient segments. This is a builder role, not a pure management role. You’ll lead a small team (Care Team Lead, Coordinators, RCM Lead) and will also personally own key operational processes until they’re ready to scale.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

1. Build and Execute the Care Model

  • Define and implement the clinical workflows, staffing ratios, and touchpoints that shape how we deliver care.
  • Partner with Product to translate workflows into the EHR and digital tools — from intake through follow-up.
  • Personally test, document, and optimize processes before scaling.
  • Roll up your sleeves to solve operational bottlenecks and pilot new care approaches.

2. Run Clinical Operations Day-to-Day

  • Oversee the small but mighty care team, ensuring quality, efficiency, and compliance.
  • Manage scheduling, escalation protocols, documentation standards, and QA.
  • Own coordination between clinical staff, product, and data teams.
  • Step into operational tasks yourself when needed — modeling high standards and bias for action.

3. Own Reimbursement and Financial Performance

  • Define viable reimbursement models for each patient segment (e.g., MA, Medicaid, risk-bearing groups).
  • Oversee revenue cycle management (RCM) and coding processes — ensuring claims accuracy and timeliness.
  • Partner with Finance and Quality to measure unit economics, reimbursement rates, and ROI.
  • Build the infrastructure to support scalable, value-based care operations.

4. Shape Strategy Through Execution

  • Identify patient populations where our care model has the most clinical and financial leverage.
  • Run pilots that test different staffing and reimbursement configurations.
  • Translate frontline insights into strategy — working closely with leadership to adjust direction.

5. Lead and Develop the Team

  • Manage the Care Team Lead, Care Coordinators, and RCM Lead — with a hands-on approach.
  • Train, coach, and document processes as you scale the model.
  • Build a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and empathy.

What You’ll Bring

  • 5–8 years of experience in clinical operations, care management, or tech-enabled care — ideally in digital health or multi-site provider settings.
  • Proven record of personally building and operating care workflows, not just overseeing teams.
  • Experience training providers of different licensures
  • Strong understanding of reimbursement, coding, and operational compliance.
  • Experience standing up RCM or care delivery processes from zero to one.
  • Deep operational instincts — able to see both the system and the edge cases.
  • Excellent communicator who can partner across product, clinical, and finance teams.
  • Builder mindset: you’re excited to be in the weeds early, building the plane as it flies.
  • Ability to travel 10%

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Clinical licensure (NP, RN, LCSW, etc.)
    • Ability to jump in as a provider to deliver care and test workflows yourself
  • Startup experience in virtual care
  • Familiarity with new CMS reimbursement models (e.g. CCM, CoCM, CHI)
  • Familiarity with group-based care models (group therapy, SMAs)
